Definitely not! Many families hold down two or more jobs and do what they can to be able to keep their children in a wonderful community like Anthem. Many people don’t discuss their financial problems or situations.
Is HAPPY 2 HELP a non-profit organization?
We have filed our 501-C3 status with the IRS and are waiting for confirmation of that. Our lawyer doesn’t foresee any problems with our status. We are just waiting on confirmation from the IRS.
How does HAPPY 2 HELP weed out the people who are trying to take advantage of a charity?
Anyone who asks for help is fully screened and all bills and money requests are checked out thoroughly. Money is never handed over without proof of hardship.
Does all the money stay only in Anthem?
100% of all donated money stays in Anthem. HAPPY 2 HELP of Anthem is about neighbors helping neighbors.
How does HAPPY 2 HELP decide what families get the donated money?
Emergency situations get attention first. Families without food, electricity and water are the first priority. Hard to believe in our beautiful community that we would have situations like that, but we do!
Will HAPPY 2 HELP make payments on Hummers or the cable bill?
No, HAPPY 2 Helps’ first priority is basic needs. Not entertainment issues or extravagant pleasures. We want to be sure our neighbors have food, electricity, water, diapers and formula.
If Anthem residents are in such bad shape financially, why don’t
they move out and go somewhere cheaper to live?
That is an option for some people but it does take money to be able to move to a new location. You need to re-establish all your utilities, gas and phone. Maybe you will need a first and last month’s rent, security and more. Rents aren’t that cheap anywhere in Arizona. Many people we talk to don’t have families to fall back on or to help them get their finances under control. It makes more sense to help our HAPPY 2 HELP friends get the current situation under control so they can move forward. We don’t want to create more hardship and stress, unless there is no other option.
Does HAPPY 2 HELP pay bills regularly for certain families?
No, we help families get back on their feet. Help them get over a hurdle and the family takes it from there. HAPPY 2 HELP is a hand up, not a hand out
We help many different people and families here in Anthem. We are not helping the same family over and over. There are exceptions to every situation but HAPPY 2 HELP is all about people who really want to help themselves but due to dire circumstances they aren’t able to.
